Zimbabwe Lockdown extended by two (2) more weeks

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has extend the ongoing lockdown by two more weeks to curb the spread of Covid 19.

Addressing the nation today, President Mnangagwa said the lockdown will continue for the next 14 days on level two with relaxed measures.

Bellow are the highlights of the level 2 extension:

All people to wear masks outside their homes
-Opening of industries from 8am to 3pm (companies to screen their workers)
-Informal sector remains closed except farm produce
-Buses only (disinfected twice a day, passengers to wear masks)
-Maintenance of quarantine for returning citizens
-Churches, gyms, bars & other recreational facilities remain closed
-Gatherings of more than 50 people prohibited to continue for the next 14 days
-All people to wear masks outside their homes
-Opening of industries from 8am to 3pm (companies to screen their workers)
-Informal sector remains closed except farm produce
-Buses only (disinfected twice a day, passengers to wear masks)
-Maintenance of quarantine for returning citizens
-Churches, gyms, bars & other recreational facilities remain closed
-Gatherings of more than 50 people prohibited
-Returning residents to be put on mandatory quarantine with tests
being carried out on periodically

Zimbabwe strategy as outlined above has taken into account realities. Gvt is working towards the mitigation of this pandemic

Gvt is introducing a food grant program to the tune of 2.4 Billion to protect the vulnerable members of the society.

Another amount 500mil tourism and hospitality industry

Education sector…our country is not in a position to open education and learning institutions
To this end the ministries of education are working with technical based ministries towards re opening
Gvt is aware of examination classes, the re opening strategy is prioritizing these students
Students must continue to have access to exams and lessons, schools remain closed.
The impact of Covid 19 Pandemic needs extreme caution to be exercised.
