The Minister of Finance and Economic Development Professor Mthuli Ncube is now into full time politics after securing a seat in Zanu PF Bulawayo Central District structures in the ongoing internal district elections being held by the ruling party.

Prof Mthuli, who got into President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s cabinet as a technocrat was voted to be the Secretary for Economic affairs in the district today.

The development follows rumours that the Finance Minister wants to contest for a legislative seat in Bulawayo Central Constituency in the upcoming elections in 2023 to cement his position in Mnangagwa’s government.

He currently holds his portfolio after he was appointed without a legislative seat, benefiting from a clause in the constitution which allows 5 Ministers who are not members of assembly to make it into cabinet.

Efforts to get a comment from Professor Mthuli Ncube were fruitless as his phone was not going through by the time of publishing.
