The Economic Empowerment Group (EEG) said they will not allow CCC leader Nelson Chamisa to hold the country at ransom by refusing to accept the election results where he was defeated by President Elect Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Speaking at a press conference today, EEG Vice President Munyaradzi Kashambe said Chamisa’s refusal to endorse the results is a move which he planned before people went to vote as he mentioned it in one of his rallies.

“Nelson Chamisa said it before people went to vote that he will not accept the results if he loses. But we have prominent people who conceded defeat. I am actually one of the people.

“Scott Sakupwanya in Mabvuku spent a lot of money but he conceded to allow the nation to move forward. So Chamisa needs to have the nation at heart and endorse the results to allow investors to come in the country,” said Kashambe.

He said CCC had no genuine cause to dispute the results because they failed to push for electoral reforms when their members were in parliament.

“If he has a genuine cause, President Mnangagwa is on record saying his doors are open for everyone. So he should approach him to discuss his grievances with him,” said Kashambe.

He said EEG will lobby for President Mnangagwa to ignore calls by Chamisa and form his government.
