President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged his new cabinet to work hard and serve the people of Zimbabwe to transform the nation during his address at the high-level meeting held at the Harare International Conference Center yesterday.
The President urged the Executive to be willing to serve the people of Zimbabwe fully and diligently as they deserve the very best.
“Our people deserve quality, affordable and accessible services. Under our watch as members of the Executive, more of our people must be taken out of poverty and into prosperity. Especially, the vulnerable women and youth of our country. To achieve this servant leadership, continuous learning and the responsive implementation of policies and projects remain integral to our focus.
“This country belongs to the people and not to us in this house. In whatever we do, let us respect the people, especially elder people, because their perception of government is based on who they come into contact with, hence if you are arrogant you don’t reflect me you reflect yourself. The government will also implement the following additional measures: 1. Accelerate our projects such as Gwai-Shanghani Dam, Kunzu Dam, The Beitbridge-Bulawayo to Victoria Falls Highway and drilling of the 35000 boreholes in our villages, among others”, said President Mnangagwa.
He reminded the Executive to abscond from behaving like bosses and demanding respect from the people.
“Please I for one, will not accept the chef- chef mentality. We are servants of the people and must manage government affairs with humility and servant leadership. We are a government from the people, by the people and for the people, and remain guided by the ideology and policies of our party ZANUPF that is patriotism, loyalty, integrity, unity, love, harmony and hard honest work,” he said.
The new cabinet will run Zimbabwe for the next 5 years.
