The Zimbabwe Republic Police have revealed the names of four victims who drowned in Lake Kariba on 16 September when a dinkey boat capsized while they were trying to cross the lake.
In a statement, the police revealed their details including names, age groups and dates of when they were recovered.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police announces that the names of the four victims who drowned when a dinkey boat capsized near Tsetse island,Lake Kariba on 16th September 2023 at about 1230hours.
“The victims were positively identified by their next of kin as follows, Sergeant Tatenda Nekati(36), Corporal Nxobile Ncube,Trust Phiri(24) and Adson Mupiringano (40).
“The bodies of the victims were retrieved on the 17th and 18th September 2023 and were taken to Kariba District Mortuary for post mortem,” reads the statement.
The ZRP continued to urge members of the public to be conscious of their safety when using boats in lakes and dams .
