The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa has pleaded with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Zimbabwe, Jacob Mudenda to disregard a letter that was written by the party’s self proclaimed Secretary General,Sengezo Tshabangu which dismissed 15 Members of Parliament, saying he is not a member of his political party.

Chamisa, through a letter said Tshabangu could not provide such a directive as he is not a member of the opposition party. He said party does not have the position of a Secretary General which Tshabangu claimed to hold on interim basis in his letter.

“Sengezo Tshabangu is not a member of CCC and as such cannot provide, avail or adduce evidence of any such membership as his name does not appear on any of CCC street or village registers of any district ,in any province, as administered by the CCC Bureau of Organisation.

“In the CCC, we have no such position as Secrestary General or Interim Secretary General as alleged by Tshabangu,” said Chamisa.

He maintained that none of the Members of Parliament and Senate who were elected under his political party were expelled. He also revealed that criminal charges have been filled against Tshabangu for his conduct.

“The conduct of Tshabangu is in fact a wanton violation of our lawsand a clear act of criminality. As such, criminal charges have been filled against him. Therefore, please kindly disregard the letter in question or any other correspondence from any other person purporting to represent the Citizens Coalition for Change,” he said.

His plea comes at a time where the opposition leader continues to disregard the electoral outcomes which saw him losing to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, but getting 73 seats in parliament. His is constantly calling for fresh elections.
