Zim, CIDCA agree on a US$5 million food and technical assistance program

The Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Professor Mthuli Ncube yesterday signed exchange of letters with the Vice Chairman for China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), Mr Tang Wenhong for the Juncao Technical Assistance Project and Food Assistance Programme worth over US$5 million.

The Government expressed its gratitude to the People’s Republic of China for the support on food assistance valued at RMBY 20,000,000, (USD 2,736,016.00), and The Juncao Technical Assistance Project amounting to RMBY 22,750,000.00, (USD 3,112,174.98). The deal will see the government of contributing RMBY 1 300 000, (USD 177.719.49).

The Juncao technical assistance involves mushroom variety selection and breeding, planting, experiment and demonstration, production and processing, technical training, extension and application. The 3-year project will be administered by the experts from the People’s Republic of China and a selected project coordinator from the Government of Zimbabwe.

The objective of the project is to strengthen the Cooperation between Zimbabwe and the People’s Republic of China with a focus on social and economic development through capacity building, demonstration of water and soil conservation as well as production and processing of organic fertilisers.
