The High Court of Zimbabwe has issued an Unexplained Wealth Order to a couple residing in Beitbridge. The directive, granted by Justice Benjamin Chikowero, requires Mr. Ozipatele Mtatabikwa and his wife, Maonei Memory Mtatabikwa, to provide an account of the origins of their wealth.

The couple possesses numerous movable and immovable assets valued at nearly $2 million. The order, filed by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on behalf of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), specifically targets the couple’s five vehicles and eight properties located in the medium and low-density regions of Beitbridge and Norton. The combined value of these assets exceeds $1.9 million.

Under the terms of the order, the Mtatabikwas are required to provide a detailed explanation for the acquisition of their assets. The court has also imposed a restriction on the couple and their representatives, preventing them from disposing of the properties until the investigation concludes.

Both individuals are civil servants employed within the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development’s Vehicle Inspectorate Department (VID).
