Russian President Vladimir Putin has cautioned Western nations today that if a direct conflict is to erupt between Russia and the US-led NATO military alliance, the world would be only one step away from plunging into a catastrophic World War Three.

Speaking on potential risks of conflict between Russia and NATO, Putin said everything is possible in the modern world.
“Everything is possible in the modern world.
It is clear to everyone that this will be one step away from a full-scale World War Three. I think hardly anyone is interested in this.” He said.

Putin also pointed out that NATO military personnel were already present in Ukraine, and has expressed concern about the presence of foreign troops, stating that it would not be well for them as they were experiencing significant casualties.

In response to increased attacks by Ukraine on Russian-held territories, Putin suggested that if the assaults continued, Russia would establish a buffer zone using additional Ukrainian territory to safeguard its own borders.

“I do not exclude that, bearing in mind the tragic events taking place today, we will be forced at some point, when we deem it appropriate, to create a certain ‘sanitary zone’ in the territories today under the Kyiv regime,” Putin remarked.

In February 2022, Putin ordered a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, triggering a major European war after eight years of conflict in eastern Ukraine between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian Ukrainians backed by Russian proxies.
