Zimbabwe ready to defend its title at the 2024 Rugby Africa Barthes Trophy

Zimbabwe’s Junior Rugby Team, (Young Sables) says it is ready to defend its title at this year’s Barthes Trophy tournament which will kick off tomorrow at Harare Sports Club in the country.

The tournament, which boasts of being Africa’s premier Rugby competition for under 20 teams will see countries like Zimbabwe, Kenya, Namibia and Tunisia battling for glory. The tournament will run for three days.

Young Sables Coach, Shannon de Souza told journalists that his team is geared up to win the trophy for the third time in front of the home crowd.

“We have done well in preparations and  we are very much ready to compete and winning  it for the third time will be massive, especially in front of our home crowd,” he said.

Speaking about the tournament,  Rugby Africa president Herbet Mensah he is expecting to see entertaining rugby in Harare.

“We are expecting entertaining rugby in Harare, and I must commend ZRU and Aaron Jani in particular for the effort that he has put in to make sure this tournament is a success and may the best team win,” he said.
