Former Dynamos Football Club captain, Murape Murape, is facing legal action after being served with a demand to immediately retract defamatory statements he allegedly made against ex-Zimbabwe youth international Walter “Ringers” Musanhu.
The legal action, initiated by Musanhu’s representatives, James Majatame Attorneys at Law, follows a series of alleged false and malicious claims Murape published in a WhatsApp group called “Former Footballers.”
Murape has been given a strict five-day ultimatum to publish a full retraction and apology in both The Herald and The Sunday Mail for four consecutive weeks, or face civil proceedings for defamation damages and criminal charges under the Cyber and Data Protection Act.
According to a letter served on Murape, the accusations made on the WhatsApp group, which reportedly has 277 members, include acusing Musanhu, who is the China-based Director of Jadel Football Academy, of committing incest by sleeping with his unnamed sisters.
The letter is also referring to Musanhu as “mainini” (a derogatory term implying homosexuality) and falsely claiming Musanhu never played for the Zimbabwe Youth national football team, Dynamos, or Motor Action.
