The upcoming football fixture between Harare Giants Dynamos F.C and their bitter rivals, Caps United could mark the return of local football in Harare as the match will be held at the National Sports Stadium for the first time in over 3 months.

The Giant Stadium had been suspended from hosting football matches as it was deemed unfit due to poor ablution facilities which raised fears of health hazards. The ban left Harare with no football pitch to host local matches. This forced local teams like Dynamos and Caps United to use grounds away from the capital city to host home games.

Dynamos F.C is currently using Barbourfields Stadium as its home ground. The announcement of the Harare Derby Fixture at National Sports Stadium could be an indication that local clubs can now host football matches in Harare.

Efforts to get a comment from the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League were fruitless they were not reachable by the time of publishing.  But the football governing body previously wrote an appeal to the Sports and Recreation Commission to be allowed to use the Stadium as it was being used to host political events.

The Harare Derby will be held on Sunday at 3pm in the Afternoon
