The much awaited Zimbabwe Hip – Hop Awards will be held on 11 December this year, with organisers calling on artists to submit their entries as the day draws near.
In a statement, the organisers called on artists to submit their entries online through the Zim Hip Hop website while physical submissions can be made at Kwame Mall Shop 106 in Harare and at Boom City Avertising in Bulawayo before 1 November.
The adjudication process will be done from 2 to 10 November and the nominees will be announced on 12 November.
The Director of ZHHA Aldrian “Beefy” Harrison said the awards will be conducted either virtually or conventionally depending on the state of the COVID-19 regulations at the time of production and the headline sponsor, will be the Pogues Whiskey.
“The Pogues Whiskey are back on board for a second year running. Their support will assist in producing a quality awards ceremony.
“Having come this far, The Pogues Zim Hip Hop Awards will continue to celebrate its 11th year of hip-hop industry achievements in glitz and glam despite the challenges of COVID-19.
“The Pogues Zim Hip Hop Awards will pay tribute to musical excellence and creativity, providing a high-profile and multi-faceted celebration of the rich cultural diversity of Zimbabwean Hip hop music,” Harrison said.
The leading authority of Zimbabwe Hip Hop culture and Africa’s first and prestigious hip hop awards’ mission is to use elements of popular youth culture and media to motivate and empower the music of young people by acknowledging and celebrating local artists in their respective genres.
“It is also a pleasure to announce an addition to the executive, our new head of operations Bekithemba Sibanda also known as Thorne Laroq. His input to the brand will shape, carve and unite the hip-hop industry and he has years of experience in the genre not only as an artists but a promoter and a leader,” Harrison added.
