Legendary former coach Callisto Pasuwa has issued an impassioned plea to Dynamos Football Club’s leadership, urging immediate action to rescue the once-dominant “Glamour Boys” from imminent relegation.

This urgent call follows the team’s devastating 3-0 defeat to Chicken Inn at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday, their heaviest loss this season which left them second from bottom in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) with a mere 16 points from 23 matches .

Pasuwa, the last manager to deliver silverware to Dynamos with an unprecedented four consecutive league titles between 2011 and 2014, expressed profound distress over the club’s rapid decline.

Drawing stark comparisons to the club’s former glory, he emphasized that Dynamos’ stature as a “big club” cannot survive on reputation alone.

He stated “I am pleading with the people at Dynamos. Of course, they are a big club, but a club can only maintain that stature depending on how the people in charge are managing it. It cannot remain big just because of the name ‘Dynamos'” .

Highlighting the erosion of Dynamos’ regional dominance, Pasuwa noted a seismic shift in Southern African football’s hierarchy.

“There was a time we were ahead of teams like TP Mazembe and Mamelodi Sundowns… But now, when people talk about football in the region, no one mentions Dynamos. That tells you something is seriously wrong and needs to be fixed,” he lamented.

The crisis deepens as emerging clubs like Scotland FC and MWOS ironically led by former Dynamos supporters now overshadow the Harare giants.

Pasuwa observed: “These clubs are owned by passionate people who probably used to cheer for Dynamos, but now they are the ones driving football development in the country.”

Behind the scenes, Dynamos grapples with managerial chaos.

Bernard Marriot’s leadership is embroiled in legal disputes and power struggles, widely blamed for the on-field collapse .

The club recently suspended head coach Saul Chaminuka after a disastrous run, with assistant Philemon Mutyakureva stepping in temporarily.

Reports indicate former Highlanders boss Kelvin Kaindu is poised to take charge amid this turmoil .

The team’s statistical plight underscores Pasuwa’s alarm:
– 17th position in the 18-team league, 8 points from safety
– Lowest scoring record in the PSL (6 goals in 23 matches)
– 24 points needed from 11 remaining games to reach the traditional 40-point safety mark

Pasuwa, who won 12 trophies during his Dynamos tenure including the 2011-2014 league quadruple and domestic cups , described watching the club’s freefall as “disturbing” and “heartbreaking.”

He appealed directly to executives: “I hope the leadership hears this message and does everything possible to restore the club’s former glory. Supporters are losing sleep, and even some of us no longer directly involved are disturbed.”

As Dynamos prepares for a critical match against MWOS this weekend, Pasuwa’s warning echoes through Zimbabwean football: without urgent structural reform and renewed passion from leadership, the unthinkable relegation of the country’s most decorated club edges closer to reality.

Club legends including Tonderai Ndiraya and Memory Mucherahowa have joined Pasuwa’s calls for intervention, signaling a united front in the fight to save Zimbabwe’s fading football icon.
